1. Before God, I shall thank the Khedive for his favor

to his servant who prays for him—himself his servant’s son.

  2. Even if I spent the whole of my life

on panegyrics, I still could not discharge the duty of praising him.

  3. Yet I offer the utmost that lies within my power

to him; for a servant, the measure of his effort is enough.

  4. And I pray that blessings be his; God will bring to pass,

through His gracious acceptance, the fulfillment of His promise.
