1. اليوم يستقبل الآمال راجيها

    وينجلي عن سماء العز داجيها

    Today it welcomes its hopes, desiring them

    And its sky of glory is illuminated

  2. وتزدهي مصر والنيل السعيد بها

    والملك والدين والدنيا وما فيها

    Egypt thrives, and its blessed Nile

    With its King, religion, world and all that is in it

  3. قد أطلع اللَه في سعد السعود سنى

    بدر بلألائه ابيضت لياليها

    God made the auspicious era of Sa’d al-Su’ud rise

    Like a full moon whose nights have been whitened

  4. وقام بالأمر رحب الباع مضطلع

    بالعبء جم شؤن النفس ساميها

    Taking up the matter is the one with vast knowledge

    Bearing the burden with a lofty soul

  5. ذو همه دون أدنى شأوها قصرت

    غايات من رام في أمر يدانيها

    His ambition falls short of the least of its affairs

    For one who seeks the highest of them

  6. وراحة لو تحاكيها السحائب في

    فيض الندى هطلت تبر اغواديها

    And if ease were to emulate it in

    The outpouring of dew, it would rain generously on its valleys

  7. يزهو بها قلم سام يسوس به

    أمر الأقاليم نائيها ودانيها

    It flourishes through his pen, directing

    The matter of distant and nearby realms

  8. يجري بما شاء من حكم ومن حكم

    يصبو لحسن معانيها مُعانيها

    Acting as he wills, judging and judging

    Until meanings pour into their meanings, refined

  9. ورأفة بعباد اللَه كافلة

    بخير ما حدّثت نفساً أمانيا

    And mercy for God's servants, ensuring

    The best that a soul has wished for

  10. مؤيد بالهدى والحق ملتمس

    رضا البرية لاسترضاء باريها

    Supported by guidance and truth, seeking

    The contentment of the righteous to please their Lord

  11. تربو على وصف مطريه محاسنه

    وهل يعدّ نجوم الأفق راعيها

    His virtues grow in description; can

    The stars of the horizon enumerate them?

  12. توفيق مصر ومولاها وموئلها

    وركنها ومفدّاها وفاديها

    The success of Egypt, its patron, and its refuge

    Its pillar, its redeemer, and its savior

  13. وغصنها النضر أنمته منابتها

    من دوحة أينعت فيها مجانيها

    And its fresh branch that its roots have grown

    From a fertile palm tree that yielded bountifully

  14. خديوها ابن خديويها ابن فارسها

    أميرها البطل الشهم ابن واليها

    Its Khedive, son of its Khedives, son of its hero

    Its Prince, the valiant, son of its Governor

  15. رأى الخليفة فيه رأي حكمته

    وللملوك صواب في مرائيها

    The Caliph saw in him the wisdom of his view

    Kings have insight in their visions

  16. رآه أجدر أن يرعى رعيته

    وأن يقوم بما يرجوه راجيها

    He saw him most fitting to tend to his flock

    And fulfill what its hopeful wish for

  17. وأن ينحى عنها ما أحاط بها

    من الخطوب التي هالت أهاليها

    And to remove from it what has surrounded it

    Of perils that terrified its households

  18. فجاء مرسومه السامي تطير به

    نجائب البرق يطوى البرّ ساريها

    So his noble decree came flying

    With flashes of lightning traversing the land

  19. لِلّه يوم جلا عن نور غرته

    كالشمس مزق بُرد الغيم ضاحيها

    By God, the day his light shone, rending

    The cold of the clouds with its glow

  20. في موكب مثل عقد الدر في نسق

    أو كالنجوم الدراري في مساريها

    In a procession like a necklace of pearls in arrangement

    Or like the glittering stars in their courses

  21. يسير في مصر والبشرى تسابقه

    في حيث سار وتسري في نواحيها

    He travels in Egypt, and good tidings race him

    Wherever he went, spreading through its regions

  22. يحفه أخواه الماجدان به

    مع الوزير شريف النفس عاليها

    Accompanied by his two glorious brothers

    And the Minister noble of spirit and lofty

  23. مشير صدق بحزم الرأي قد عرفت

    أفكاره بين باديها وخافيها

    An advisor of sincere, prudent opinion whom

    Thoughts are known, public and private

  24. لا تنثني عن صواب الرأي رغبته

    لرهبة كائناً ما كان داعيها

    His desires do not sway him from wise counsel

    For fear of whoever causes them

  25. حتى أتى القلعة الفيحاء فانطلقت

    فيها المدافع بالبشرى تواليها

    Until he came to the splendid citadel, where

    The cannons heralded his coming in succession

  26. واستقبلته صفوف الجند قد نظمت

    نظم القلائد زانتها لآليها

    And the ranks of soldiers welcomed him, arranged

    In strings of necklaces, adorned for their ornament

  27. داعين تعلن ما في النفس ألسنهم

    بدعوة الخير والتأمين تاليها

    Proclaiming what is in their souls, their tongues

    With prayers and safety following each other

  28. فلتفتخر مصر إعجاباً بحاضرها

    على محاسن ماضيها وآتيها

    So let Egypt pride itself on its present

    Over the beauties of its past and future

  29. إيه لقد أبدت الأيام سر مُنى

    طالت عليه الليالي في تماديها

    Ah, indeed the days have revealed a wish

    That the nights stretched in their continuity

  30. وأسعد الطالع الميمون أنفسنا

    بخير أمنية كانت تناغيها

    And the blessed stars gladdened us

    With the best of hopes that it aspired to

  31. هذا الذي كانت الآمال ترقبه

    دهراً وتعتدّه أقصى مراميها

    This one whom hopes were awaiting

    For ages, counting him their ultimate aim

  32. مازال في قلب مصر من محبته

    سرّ تبوح به نجوى أهاليها

    He still resides in Egypt’s heart with his love

    A secret its whispers confess to its people

  33. تصبو له وأمانيها تطاوعها

    في حبه ولياليها تعاصيها

    Yearning for him while its wishes obey it

    Loving him while its nights defy it

  34. وترتجيه من الرحمن سائلة

    حتى استجيب بما ترجوه داعيها

    And seeking him from the Merciful, asking

    Until responding to what it pleads

  35. فالحمد لِلّه شكرانا لأنعمه

    فالشكر حافظ نعماه وواقيها

    So praise be to God, thanking Him for His blessings

    For gratitude preserves its blessings and protects them

  36. يا ابن الذين لهم في المجد قد عرفت

    أخبار صدق لسان الحمد راويها

    O son of those whose glory is known

    The news of whose truthful praise is narrated

  37. قادوا الجنائب من مصر مسوّمة

    إلى الحجاز إلى أقصى أعاليها

    They led the fleets from Egypt, poisoned

    To the Hijaz, to its highest summits

  38. غرّا سوابق مشهوراً سوابقها

    مقرونة بأعاليها عواليها

    Horses pranced, famed for their prancing

    Paired with their summits, their heights

  39. قبا ضوامر كالا رام يكنفها

    ليوث حرب بأيديها مواضيها

    Ships sailed, both deploying sails

    Lions of war in their hands their dwellings

  40. تموج في زرد الماذيّ سابحة

    تحدى بأرجلها عدواً أياديها

    Swaying in emerald green, swimming

    Challenging with their legs a hostile legion

  41. رموا بهنّ صدور البيد معنقة

    على نحور أعاديها عواديها

    They cast at them the chests of calamity, adorned

    Upon the necks of their enemies, returning

  42. قد عوّدوهنّ أن لا ينثنين عن الهيجاء

    إلا إذا كفت عواديها

    They disciplined them not to waver from ferocity

    Except when their dwellings restrained them

  43. وأن يطأن على هام الكماة إذا

    لف الوغى بهواديها تواليها

    And to tread upon the ridge of battle when

    Turmoil enveloped its valleys in succession

  44. فاستنقذوا حرم من عصب

    لم يرع حرمة بيت اللَه راعيها

    So they rescued the sacred house from a horde

    That did not revere the sanctity of God's house

  45. وأوردوا الخيل نجداً فاستبوه ولم

    تعسر عليها عسير في مساعيها

    And they brought the horses to Najd, so it feared them

    And nothing was too difficult in their efforts

  46. وكان تأييدها أمر الخلافة في

    مواطن الحرب من جُلَّى معاليها

    And supporting them was the order of the Caliphate in

    Its battle positions, most glorious

  47. مولاي دعوة اخلاص يكررها

    داع أياديك أرضته أياديها

    My Lord, a prayer of devotion he repeats

    May your hands prosper what his hands prospered

  48. هنيت علياء قد وافتك خاطبة

    تختال تيها وتزهو في تهاديها

    You have congratulated a supremacy that has come to you

    Swaying in its garb and blooming in its meadows

  49. علياء فاتت سموّا كل منزلة

    فلم يكن في سواها ما يساويها

    Supremacy that surpassed every station in loftiness

    So nothing matched it in its stead

  50. رأت علاك فشاقتها حلاك فلم

    تسمح لغيرك من خل يخاليها

    It saw you, so it fell in love; it did not

    Permit anyone else to share its thoughts

  51. وكم سمت نحوها نفس تؤمّلها

    من قبل لكنها ضلت مساعيها

    And how many souls have aspired to it

    Before, but their efforts went astray

  52. تجاذبوها فرثت في أناملهم

    حباً لها وتمادت في تنائيها

    They coveted it, so it slipped from their fingers

    Loving it and prolonging its avoidance

  53. قضوا غراماً ولم يقضوا بها وطرا

    فكان أصل مناياهم أمانيها

    They perished in passion, but did not attain it

    So their wishes were the core of their demise

  54. فاسلم أقرّبك الرحمن أعينها

    ولا برحت لها مولى تواليها

    So may the Merciful protect its eyes for you

    And cease not as its protecting Lord

  55. وأقرّ سمعك من حلو الثناء حُلى

    يلهو بلحن المثاني صوت شاديها

    And delight your hearing with the sweetest praise

    That plays with the tune of lyrics, a chanting voice

  56. حلى ما انتظم العقد الفريد على

    لبات حسناء تجلوه تراقيها

    Sweet like the unique necklace on

    The soft skin of a beauty, increasing its grace

  57. وهاك غراء من حر القريض إذا

    ما أنشدت خلب الألباب تاليها

    And here is some heated poetry which, when

    Recited, captivates minds successively

  58. وفخرها أنها في المدح قد صدعت

    بقول صدق فلا حيّ يلاحيها

    Its pride is that in praise it proclaimed

    True words, so none alive competes with it

  59. يسهو بها الراكب المزجي مطيته

    عن حاجة راح يغدو في تقاضيها

    A mounted traveller is distracted from his quest

    To fulfill a need that took him traveling

  60. يسائل الناس أيّ الناس قائلها

    وأيّ برّبه الممدوح جازيها

    Asking people, which people spoke it?

    And which Lord rewarded its author?

  61. وانما حسبها برا وتكرمه

    منه قبول وإقبال يوافيها

    But it is enough for it as righteousness and nobility

    His acceptance and attention rewarding it

  62. تدري القصائد أني لست أقصدها

    إلا وللحب داع من دواعيها

    Poems know I do not intend them

    Except for love, one of its causes

  63. ولا تجافيت عنها قبل من حَصَر

    بحمد ربي ولا ضنت قوافيها

    And I did not shun them before the one who confined

    Myself in praising my Lord, nor was miserly with their rhymes

  64. لكنها نفس حر لا تهم بما

    لا يستوي فيه باديها وخافيها

    But it is a free soul not concerned with

    What is not equal, public and private

  65. تسعى إليك وفرط الشوق قائدها

    إلى رحابك والاخلاص حاديها

    It strives to you, passionately leading it

    To your sanctum, sincerity guiding it

  66. وافت تهنئ مولاها مؤرّخة

    توفيق مصر بأيدي اللَه راعيها

    It came to congratulate its patron, chronicling

    The success of Egypt by God's hands, its Shepherd
