وأمطلُه العَصرَينِ حَتّى يَملَّني
وَيَرضى بِنِصفِ الدينِ وَالأَنفُ راغِمُ
I put him off morning and evening, until he wearies of me,
I will stretch it out through the two eras until it wearies me
And accepts half the debt, his pride humbled in the dust.
And be satisfied with half the debt though the nose is averse
