وَمُثَوِّبٍ بالأقرَبينَ كَأَنَّهُ
شَرِقٌ دَعا في لُجَّةٍ مَغمورُ
And many a man calling his nearest kin for aid, as though he were
And one who rewards kin as if he were
A choking man who cried out from the depths, engulfed—
A rising sun in a pitch-black gloom obscured;
آسيتُه فَكشَفتُ عَنهُ كُربَةً
تَحتَ الرِماحِ وَللكُماةِ هَريرُ
I came to his aid and lifted his anguish from him
I grieved for him; then from him grief removed
Beneath the spears, while the warriors roared.
