Have I not, at my back when lands turn grim,
Is there not beyond me a country darkened,
Suwayd son of Manjuf and Bakr son of Wa’il—
Suwayd son of Munjuf and Bikr son of Wail?
fortresses God fashioned, whose like has never been seen,
Fortresses which Allah has made, none have seen their like,
lofty in their heights and mighty at their foundations?
Loftiest heights, lowest bottoms crowded together,
They have become my treasure, which I shall not forsake,
They have become my treasure which I shall not forsake,
and my arrows, readied against whoever challenges me.
And my arrows which I have prepared for battle.
