إنّ هذا يرى أرى
أنه ابن المُهلَّبِ
This fellow thinks, I think,
that he is a son of al-Muhallab.
أنت واللّه معْجَبٌ
ولنا غيرُ معجِبِ
By God, you are full of self-admiration,
yet to us, you are anything but admirable.
