Umm 'Amr saw us and scorned us

And the aspect of war annulled the delicate one

If your tinder never sparked one day

How would you know which is the spark?

Ask about me, tell her I'm impudent

To the left I strike white with my saber

And when high fortunes differ

Among heroes my coat of mail is impervious

I'm devoted to glory and heroism, I

Am fully courageous and glorious
