إذا الله لم يسقِ إلا الكرام

فأسقي ديار بني حنبل

If God does not give water except to the generous,

Then give water to the homes of the family of Hanbal,

مُلثّاً مُربَّاَ له هيدب

صدوق الرواعد والأزمل

A home sprinkled and nurtured for him, Haydib,

Honest in thunder and late winter rain,

كأنّ السحاب دُوين السماء

نعام تعلق بالأرجل

As if the clouds are ostrich chicks in the sky

Ostriches hanging by their feet,

تكركره خضخضات الجنوب

وتفزعه هزة الشمأل

Rumbling with the gurgling of the south wind

And startled by the shaking of the north wind,

فسقى ديارهم باكراً

من الغيث في الزمن الممحل

So he gave their homes an early drink

Of rain in the due season.
