قالوا قعَدتَ فلم تخرج فقلت لهم

قالوا قعَدتَ فلم تخرج فقلت لهم

بعدي عن الناس في هذا الزمان حجا

بعدي عن الناس في هذا الزمان حجا

They said, “You stayed put and did not go out.” I said to them,

They said, "You sit still and do not go out," so I said to them,

“Keeping apart from people in this age is wisdom.

"To distance myself from people in this time is an excuse."

إذا خروجك لم يخرجك عن كرب

إذا خروجك لم يخرجك عن كرب

حسَدت من كان وسط البيت ما خرجا

حسَدت من كان وسط البيت ما خرجا

If going out does not deliver you from distress,

If going out does not take you out of distress,

I envied whoever was inside the house and did not go out.”

I envy the one who stays inside the house and does not go out.
