أمنُونٌ بدَت لنا أم جُفونُ
حَركاتٌ للسُّقمِ فيها سُكُونُ
Is it a dream that appeared to us, or sleepy eyelids
With movements of sickness in them there is tranquility
بعتُها طالَما حَيِيتُ هُجُوعي
بدمُوعي فأيُّنا المَغبُونُ
I have sent her as long as I lived my sorrows
With my tears, so who is more foolish
أنا باللَّهِ في السَّقامِ كَما قا
لَ مَهينٌ ولا يَكادُ يُبِينُ
I, by God, in sickness as he said
There is no disgrace and can hardly be seen
