ما لخُلقِ الأَميرِ ثانٍ نُرجِّي
هِ فلا لِلغِنى ولا لِلمَلاهي
The prince’s character has no peer we might hope
for—neither for riches nor for revelry.
أنا راضٍ بكلِّ ذلكَ إلا
أن يَكونَ السَّاقي ابنُ عبدِ اللَّهِ
I am content with all of that, except
that the cupbearer should be Ibn ʿAbdallāh.
