An honor like the sky, where there rise
lofty resolves as though they were stars;
noble men have raised it; whenever
one noble man leaves it in death, another builds it anew.
Such are al-Husayn ibn Tahir and his father,
his son Tahir, and Ibrahim—
with hands that drive the clouds of want
from the destitute, though they themselves are rain clouds;
and gifts whose glad promise, even from afar,
guides the seeker of bounty, who watches for rain.
