نَشرَت شَعرَها نَصيفاً فكانَت

نَشرَت شَعرَها نَصيفاً فكانَت

She let down her hair as a veil, and thus she stood

within two veils: her tresses and the veil.

غادةٌ أنكرَت لحي مماتاً

غادةٌ أنكرَت لحي مماتاً

ورَأت ميتَتي مِن المَعروفِ

ورَأت ميتَتي مِن المَعروفِ

A graceful maiden, she begrudged any living man death,

yet deemed my death an act of kindness.
