1. وصَفَ البدرُ حُسنَ وَجهكَ حتَّى

    خِلتُ أنِّي وما أراكَ أراكا

    The full moon described your beautiful face until

    I imagined I saw you though I did not.

  2. وإِذا ما تَنَفَّسَ النَرجِسُ الغَضُّ

    تَوَهَّمتُه نسِيمَ شَذاكا

    When the narcissus breathes its delicate breath

    I fancy it is your gentle breeze.

  3. خُدَعٌ لِلمُنَى تُعلِّلُني مِن

    كَ بإشراقِ ذا وبَهجَةِ ذاكا

    Deceitful wishes would have me believe

    Your radiance smiles in this, your joy in that.

  4. لأقيمنَّ ما حَيِيتُ على الشُّك

    رِ لِهذا وذاكَ إذ حَكياكا

    While I live I will always wonder about this and that

    Since they spoke to me of you.
