عَرَّضَ لي بالوِصالِ في النَّوم

وزارَني خُفيةً من القَومِ

He offered me a union in a dream

And visited me secretly from the people

حتَّى إذا ما الصَّباحُ عاد لَنا

عُدتُ عَليه بعادَةِ اللَّومِ

Until when the morning returned to us

I returned to blaming him

فانظُر إلى لَيلَتي وما صَنَعَت

أما تَرى فَضلَها عَلى يَومي

So look at my night and what it has done

Do you not see its merit over my day
