وصَديقٍ مُصَدَّقٍ

لم يزَل قطُّ مُخلِصا

A trusted friend

Who has always been loyal

قالَ عن جَعفرِ بن مُغ

نِم قَولاً مُلَخَّصا

Spoke of Ja'far ibn Mughira

In brief words

إنَّه لَم يزَل يُصا

فِحُ حتَّى تَخصَّصا

He has always been pure

Until he became dedicated

وحَكى لي بأنَّه

يَبلَعُ الأيرَ والخُصى

And told me that he

Swallows pebbles and date pits
