The tale-bearers hoped that I had forgotten my love, and rejoiced
The slanderers hoped for my demise and rejoiced
when it was said, “His two cheeks have been adorned with earrings and necklaces.”
When it was said: "Decorate his cheeks and bestow him."
Yet when you see the first hair begin to show
And when you see poetry first bloom
upon a cheek, love is the first thing to appear.
On a cheek, love is the first thing that bloomed.
