حتى ذكرتُكَ عندما جنحَت

فرأيتُها جنحَت إلى ذِكري

When I mentioned you as dusk fell

I saw it incline toward my memory

واستبشَرَت والنفسُ آلفةٌ

بقديم ما عرفت من البِشرِ

It rejoiced and my soul grew accustomed

To the familiar faces it once knew

ولطولِ بُعدكَ عن ظُلامتها

ظلمت فما انتَصرت أبا نصرِ

But because you've been away so long

It grew dark, and could not prevail, oh Abu Nasr
