1. لَم يَسقِني أحدٌ فأشكو جَورَهُ

    لكِن سُروري بالأميرِ سَقاني

    No one gave me drink, for me to complain of his tyranny,

    But my joy in the prince gave me to drink,

  2. وجعلتُ أسكرُ من يَدي ثقةً بما

    يُوليهِ مِن كرَمٍ ومِن إحسانِ

    And I became intoxicated by my own hand in trust

    Of the generosity and kindness he shows,

  3. أنا كالفَراشَةِ لا تَزالُ تَطيرُ أو

    يَعتاقُها لَهبٌ عنِ الطَّيَرانِ

    I am like the butterfly, ever flying

    Until a flame sets it free from flying.
