ما استَطاعت أن تهجَر المَهجورا

ربَّ فعلٍ لا يحملُ التَّكديرا

رِ فيها بَنجوتَكينَ الأميرا

واستعرت اسمَهُ على ما أقاسي

هِ فصرتُ المؤيَّد المَنصورا

بفتىً مطلق اليدينِ إذا كا

نَ مُجيراً من أزمَةٍ أو مُغيرا

With a free-handed young man, when he

لك بأسٌ ردَّ الكبيرَ صغيراً

وندىً ألحقَ الصغيرَ الكبيرا

You have might which reduced the big one to small

And dew which made the small one big

وثناءٌ ضاقَت به سَعةُ الأر

ضِ فما يستطيعُ فيها مَسيرا

And praise, for which the expanse of the earth

قلَّما دارتِ المَنايا كؤوساً

بين قومٍ إلا وكنتَ المُديرا

Rarely did the cups of death go around

Among a people unless you were the circulator

تجدُ الروعَ كل يومٍ مقيماً

مقعداً منكَ والغبار مثيرا

You find fear residing everyday

In a seat because of you, and dust stirring

إِنني عندما رأيتُكَ والعي

دَ أراهُ أشدَّ منكَ سُرورا

When I saw you and the feast

I see it more gladdening than you

نظراتٌ ملحَّةٌ منه في وَج

هِكَ كادَت أن ترشفَ المَنظورا

فاستحقَّ الهناءَ قبلَكَ لكن

كنتَ من قبلهِ المهيبَ الوَقورا

So it deserved congratulations before you

فاعتَذرنا إليه ثم ابتدَأنا

بك إِن كان يعذرُ المَعذورا

أنت أعلى ذكراً وأكثرُ أيا

ماً ولا يلحقُ القليلُ الكَثيرا

فابقَ فينا بقاءه تقطعُ الأَي

يامَ فيما تحبُّه والدهورا

نَ الزمانُ المَنهِيَّ والمَأمورا
