1. ويَعجنُ للعِيدِ في مُسعُطٍ

    دَقيقَ الشَّعيرِ ولا يَنخلُ

    He kneads for the feast in a bread bowl

    Barley flour but does not sift

  2. وأنظفُ من وَجهِهِ صَحنُه

    وأطهرُ مِن خَلقِه المِرجَلُ

    And his platter is cleaner than his face

    And his pot is purer than his manners

  3. ويُنبتُ في أرضِ تَنُّورِه

    حَشِيشاً لِبرذَونِه يَقصِلُ

    And he grows in the land of his oven

    Grass for his mattress he reaps

  4. ويَستقبلُ الضَّيفَ من فَرسَخٍ

    أيا ضيفُ قُل لي مَتى تَرحَلُ

    And he receives the guest from a mile away

    Oh guest, tell me when will you depart
