ومعتَرضٍ بعارضِ راحَتَيهِ

همي فأَصابَني وأصابَ غَيري

My worries have struck me and struck others

With one who objects and disrupts my comfort

فصرتُ ببعضِ ما عانَيتُ منه

أظنُّ الجودَ بعضَ بَني زُهيرِ

So I've become, through some of my troubles with it

To think generosity is some of the sons of Zuheir

أقول وقد سَقاه الجودُ كأساً

فطارَ بسُكرِه مع كلِّ طيرِ

I say, as generosity has given him a cup

So he flew drunk with all the birds

لعلَّ مُحمداً يَصحُو فيَضحى

مقيماً قد تقدَّمَ كلَّ خيرِ

Maybe Muhammad will wake and be sober

Remaining ahead of all good
