وعامرِ دارٍ للخَنا وهو قبلَها
لأوسَعَ منها تحتَ طِمريه مِعمارُ
Many a keeper of a house of debauchery—though, before it,
He built a house of evil and before that
beneath his two rags was an edifice roomier than the house—
Beneath his rubbish was a dwelling far more spacious.
تعزَّب في أرجائِها بفحولِها
فللَّه درُّ الدارِ ما تَستُر الدارُ
has lived celibate in its chambers, among its studs.
His stalwart friends paraded through its tracts -
What a marvelous house, by God—what things that house conceals!
Great God! The house conceals what it contains.
