1. May the blessed marriage bond bring you joy, for it rests

    upon the finest worthy match for the noble man—and equals;

  2. and upon nobles gathered from every direction:

    great men, lords, nobles, and eminent notables.

  3. Long before this, I had hoped of God

    that in it I would see what I had hoped for through the years.

  4. And I never ceased beseeching God for what would delight me

    in the sons of my noble companions and brothers.

  5. Thus, praise be to God, it was a blessed marriage bond,

    bringing in my joys and carrying off my sorrows.

  6. We rejoiced, and the people rejoiced in what they brought about,

    on a momentous day—momentous indeed!

  7. May it endure in goodness, for joy and bliss;

    so I dated it: “The bond of goodness endured with Nu‘man.”
