1. May you ever be happy with your decoration and the feast,

    and enraged the surly man and the envious foe.

  3. You ascend through those ranks of glory

    that, through you, rise upward toward glory.

  4. All goodness has come to us,

    though once it shunned us utterly.

  5. O prince among noble, eminent men

    who surpass the world in kindness and generosity,

  6. the garden of fellowship was a withered garden,

    but through your bounty it became fresh and new.

  7. Compassion from you embraced them

    and softened them, though they were iron.

  8. Those ill-fated days have passed away

    and, through your virtues, turned to days of fortune.

  9. I said, “O neck of lofty honors!”—and proudly it displayed

    a neck and graceful throat of yours reaching toward glory.
