1. You came to visit and were welcomed as befits

    a companion who has come, and a dear friend who comes to call.

  2. This gathering of yours, and your enlivening of it—

    from you there shines upon it a light amid delights.

  3. Ah, how lovely—a convivial gathering grown radiant,

    with the noble sayyids present there,

  4. through an appearance attended by happiness,

    and faces from which full moons rise.

  5. The eyes of glory rejoiced in your assembly,

    and at that our hearts opened wide.

  6. A noble young man’s wedding brought you together;

    in it, hidden joys come into view.

  7. In good fortune’s ascendant and its approach,

    in it are glad tidings, and in it is delight.

  8. I congratulated Mahmoud and his brothers

    for a resolve untouched by lassitude,

  9. for his doing good, and for his deeds—

    in which there is no shortcoming in any respect.

  10. God has indeed gladdened us, so I composed its chronogram:

    “With Ibrahim’s wedding comes the utmost joy.”
