1. O master, be patient

    amid the calamities that befall.

  2. Your wife has departed for the oth—

    er world, and God has fulfilled His decree.

  3. Thus do people pass away,

    one generation after another.

  4. What person has not been frightened

    by calamities looming dark?

  5. The people's leader was not terri—

    fied, though death drove its fever high.

  6. How many of us has death struck

    whenever it aimed its arrow!

  7. May God's mercy be upon her—

    abundant mercy descending.

  8. She has come to dwell beside a generous Lord,

    in bliss and blessed grace.

  9. Speak to her, pray, and inscribe the date:

    “You are in the Gardens—a mercy.”
