1. O master who has held mastery among all the nobles,

    and has ever been the master of masters, from the day he came to be;

  2. The office of naqib has found its eyes content in you,

    and has taken pride in you among grandees and notables.

  3. Praise be to God, when on that day there passed you by

    glad tidings proclaiming joys aloud,

  4. from the exalted king, whose might gives him

    sovereignty over all the kings of the earth—

  5. Abdülaziz: may God perpetuate his reign

    and increase security and faith within his realm;

  6. the highest and most exalted in rank

    of all worldly kings, and the greatest in glory in his age.

  7. Were all the kings of the earth weighed against him,

    his scale would outweigh them all in might.

  8. Or were he to wage war against unbelief, he would take

    the host of angels as his champions and helpers;

  9. protector of the sanctuary of Islam and guardian of the faith—

    at his command, it submits to God in utter submission.

  10. Without him, no banners would be unfurled for justice,

    and it might have been filled with injustice and aggression.

  11. He appointed you to that for which you were worthy: to be

    one who raises pillars among the edifices of glory.

  12. And for the naqibship, we date its year with the words:

    “To you the Sultan has sent a firman.”
