1. هَلُمَّ بنا نزورُ أبا الخصيبِ

    ونرعى جانِبَ العيش الخصيبِ

    Come, let us visit Abul Khasib

    And graze by the fertile living

  2. نعاشر أهْلَهُ ونقيمُ فيه

    بخفض العيش من حسن وطيب

    We befriend its people and reside in it

    With the cheapness of good and pure living

  3. كرامٌ قد نزلت بهم غريباً

    فكانوا سلوة الرجل الغريب

    Noblemen who settled as strangers

    And were the consolation of the stranger

  4. وعبد الواحد الموصوف فيهم

    بطول الباع والصَّدر الرَّحيب

    And Abdel Wahed, described among them

    With long sell and ample bosom

  5. هو الشَّهم الَّذي لا عيب فيه

    سوى العرض النقيّ من العيوب

    He is the gallant with no shortcoming

    Except the pure reputation from flaws

  6. لقد تُقنا إلى ذاك المحيَّا

    ولا تَوْقَ المحبِّ إلى الحبيب

    We frequented that praised man

    A lover does not yearn except for the beloved

  7. فحيِّ ابنَ المبارك من كريم

    أحبّ إلى القلوب من القلوب

    Greet the son of Mubarak, a generous one

    More beloved to hearts than hearts themselves

  8. يرى فعل الجميل عليه فرضاً

    وصنع المكرمات من الوجوب

    He sees good deeds as a duty upon him

    And grants of honors from the obligations

  9. نُصيبُ بفضله الأَعراض منه

    ونرجع عنه في أوفى نصيب

    We get from his virtues a share

    And we leave it at the best fate

  10. حكى إحسانه صوب الغوادي

    فقلنا ديمة القطر الصَّبيب

    He told of his charity towards the refugees

    We said the rain is lasting with kindness

  11. إذا المستصرخون دَعَوْه يوماً

    فقد أمنت بكشَّاف الكروب

    When the begging called him one day

    I felt safe with the reliever of adversities

  12. وإنْ أبْصَرَتْ منه البِشْرَ يبدو

    فأبشرْ منه بالفرج القريب

    And if people saw goodness from him appearing

    Then expect from it relief drawing near

  13. يلذّ لدى سؤال ندى يديه

    فيثني عطف مرتاح طروب

    The request of his hands' bounty is sweet

    With a satisfied and pleasant soul

  14. ومبتسم بوجه الضَّيف زاه

    ووجه الدَّهر مشتدّ القطوب

    Smiling to the guest's face lively

    While the days' face is frowning with intensity

  15. أَجَلّ عصابة كرمت وجادت

    على العافين في اليوم العصيب

    The best gang that was generous and gave

    To the unharmed on the hardest day

  16. كريمٌ قد تفرَّع من كريم

    نجيبٌ ينتمي لأبٍ نجيب

    A generous one branched from a generous

    A noble one descendant of a noble one

  17. رأيت الأَكرمين على ضروب

    وهذا خير هاتيك الضروب

    I saw the most generous in types

    And this is the best of those types

  18. وقَدْرٍ ما استخفَّته الرَّزايا

    ولا راعته قارعة الخطوب

    And value that calamities took lightly

    And misfortunes did not heed

  19. ولا استهْوَتْه نَفْسٌ في هوانٍ

    ولم يَدْنُ إلى أدنى معيب

    Nor did a soul desire in humiliation

    And he did not get close to any flaw

  20. منارٌ يُستمدُّ الرأي منه

    وعنه رميَّة السَّهْمِ المصيب

    A beacon from which opinion is sought

    And towards it arrows of precise hits

  21. فأَشهَدُ أنَّه فردُ المعالي

    وما أنا منه في شكٍّ مريب

    So I testify he is unmatched in glory

    And I have no doubtful suspicion of him

  22. عليه ذوو العقول إذَنْ عيالٌ

    وها هو إرْبةُ الفطن الأَريب

    The intellectuals are thereby his children

    And here he is the whims of the adept

  23. فتعرض رأيُها أبداً عليه

    كما عرض المريض على الطَّبيب

    So their opinion is thereby displayed to him

    As the patient is to the physician

  24. فداك الباخلون وهم كثيرٌ

    فداءَ النَّحر من بُدنٍ ونيب

    Those who stingy sacrificed for you and they are many

    Sacrificed by slaughter from abdomens and palms

  25. بيومٍ عنده الإِنفاق فيه

    أشدّ على الجبان من الحروب

    A day with him spending therein

    Is tougher on the coward than wars

  26. ولا أَفلَتْ كواكِبُك الزَّواهي

    ولا أَذِنَتْ شموسُكَ للغروب

    Your planets do not evade grants

    Nor do your suns allow sunset
