1. Welcome, arriving one, whose coming brought joy!

    No delay shall keep him from the station of honor.

  2. The hardships and terrors have now passed away;

    Calamities undergo transformations and change.

  3. Through them, you saw the sincerity of men's affections,

    And truthful speech and falsehood became clear to you.

  4. You found no brother at your side like Sulayman,

    Whose gracious service is devoted to you alone.

  5. Give thanks for his noble deeds, for he has bestowed

    A favor upon you, and that deed deserves gratitude.

  6. He proved true to you and won the minister's favor, leaving

    No deficiency, nor any failure within his power.

  7. The minister—may God strengthen his realm—

    Is righteous and merciful; with him, a fault is forgiven.

  8. It is as though I behold you, immersed in his favor,

    Watched over and beheld by fortune's eye.

  9. His Excellency sent you greetings

    In which he subtly couched intimations and explanations.

  10. A single glance from his authority will soon suffice you,

    For the sovereign's glance is nothing less than an elixir.

  11. What happened has happened, and the decrees of fate run on;

    No planning avails against the decrees of fate.

  12. God's decree is excuse enough for a young man,

    And one is excused for what God has ordained.

  13. Rejoice in the favor you will receive from his care,

    And in what pleases you, you shall be gladdened by him.

  14. The victory concerning you is his, as is all goodness;

    And you, O Mansur, are indeed granted victory.
