هُنِّيتَ هُنِّيتَ بالإقدام والظَفَر

فاسلم ودُم سالماً بالعزِّ وافتَخِر

You were congratulated, congratulated for your valor and victory

So be safe and let your blood be safe with honor and pride

زلزلتَ بالسيف أركاناً مشيدة

تكاد تلحق بعد العين بالأثر

You shook the firmly constructed pillars with the sword

That almost catches up with the eye in terms of effect

أنت المنيب إلى الله العزيز به

والمتّقي منه في أمنٍ وفي خطر

You are the one who turns to the Almighty God through him

And who fears Him in security and danger

بطشتَ بطش شديد البأس منتقم

من بعد ما كنت قد بالغت في النذر

You struck with severe might, avenging

After you had given full warning

إنَّ الخوارج عن أمر أمرت به

جاءت إليك لعمري غير مفتقر

Verily the dissenters from the order you commanded

Came to you, by my life, not in need

هم عاهدوك على أن لا تُمَدَّ لهم

يدٌ إلى شجر عَدْواً ولا عشر

They pledged to you that no hand would be extended to them

To a tree they considered an enemy, not even a tenth

ولا ينالون منها غير ما ملكت

أيمانهم بعدما يودى من العُشُرِ

And they would take from it nothing but what their oaths allowed

After paying the tithe from the harvest

لو أنهم صدقوك القول يومئذٍ

قبلت بالعفو عنهم عذر معتذر

Had they been truthful to you that day

You would have pardoned them, accepting their apology

كفى بما كانَ منك اليوم تبصره

لو يعقلون لذي سمع وذي بصر

It is enough what you saw from them today

If they were reasonable, for those who hear and see

لبَّتك أبناء نجد إذ دعوتهم

فأقبلت زمراً تأوي إلى زمر

The children of Najd hastened to you when you called them

So rallied groups flocked to groups

جاءت إليك كأسْدِ الغاب عادية

على أعاديك تحمي البيض بالسمر

They came to you like the lions of the jungle, attacking

Your enemies, protecting the whites with the dark-skinned

تهون دونك منهم أنفسُ كَرُمَتْ

في عزّةِ الموت أو في لُجَّة الخطر

Their selves became trivial before you

In the honor of death or in the heat of danger

كأنما تنتضيها من عزائمهم

صوارماً طبعوها آفة العمر

As if you drew them out of their determination

Swords they naturally carried, defective with age

والحرب قائمة منهم على قدم

والنقع يكحل عين الشمس بالحور

And war rages against them constantly

While the spears paint the eye of the sun black with neighing

وللمدافع إرعاد وزمجرة

ترمي جهنَّمُها الطاغين بالشرر

The cannons rumble and roar angrily

Their hellfire hurls the tyrants with embers

إذا قضى الحتف من أبطالها وطراً

ففي سليمان منها لذة الوطر

When fate takes some of its heroes as victims

There is in them the pleasure of sweet fragrance

بغلمة كسيوف الهند مصقلة

ما شيب منها صفاء الود بالكدر

With youths like Indian swords, polished

Purity of affection not marred by murkiness

لا ينزلون على كرهٍ بمنزلة

ولا يضامون في بدو وفي حضر

They do not settle in a place they dislike

Nor are they humiliated in nomadic and urban areas

وكم جمعت وشجّعت الرجال وكم

علّمتها الحرب بعد الجبن والخور

And how many men you gathered and emboldened

Teaching them warfare after cowardice and vileness

نفخت فيهم فقاموا يهرعون إلى

حرب تشبّ بنار من لظى سقر

You breathed in them, so they rushed

To fight that ignites with hellish intense flames

علّمتهم كيف يمضي السيف شفرته

وليس يغني حذار الموت عن قدر

You taught them how the sword swings its blade

While caution cannot protect from destiny

سرت بهم نفحات منك تبعثهم

إلى الشجاعة بعث النادر الحذر

Whiffs from you stirred them

To courage like the stirring of the cautious felon

وأنت وحدك فيهم عسكر لجب

سود الوقائع من راياتك الحمر

You alone in them are an army for the mountain

With your red banners darkening battlegrounds

وأنت بالله لا بالجيش منتصر

فيا لمستنصر بالله منتصر

And you, by God, are victorious, not by the army

So hail to the victorious through God, the victor

قد أفلح الناس باديها وحاضرها

من آمرٍ بالذي تهوى ومؤتمر

The people in its countryside and cities have succeeded

With one who commands what you wish and deliberates

وأنت هادٍ لها في كل مشتَوَرٍ

وأنتَ مقدامُها في كل مشتجر

You guide them in every perplexing situation

You spearhead them in every dangerous place

ورُبَّ أمرٍ مهول من عظائمه

أنْ ليس تفعله بالصارم الذكر

And how many awful great tasks

Can only be done with the mentioning of the sword

وإنّك العضب راع العين منتظراً

من صنعة الله لا من صنعة البشر

You are watching closely, waiting

For what God wills, not what man makes

ترقّ للناس ما تصفو ضمائرها

برقّةٍ كنسيم الروض في السحر

You are gentle with the people however much

Their consciences are purified by gentle breezes at dawn

والغلّ يكمن من تلك الخوارج في

قلوبها ككمون النار في الحجر

But the hatred hides in the hearts of those dissenters

Like latent fire in the stones

عادوا فَعُدت إلى ما كنت تفعله

في حالك من ظلام النقع معتكر

They returned so you returned to what you used to do

In your dark tribulation and turmoil

والخيل تفعل بالقتلى سنابكها

لعب الصوالج يوم الروع بالأكر

With the horses making their shoes play

The play of the armored one on the terrible day

وقمت تخطب في حد الحسام على

منابر الهام بالآيات والسور

And you stood delivering sermons on the edge of the swords

On the pulpits of zeal with verses and chapters

والسيف أصدق ما تنبيك لهجته

بموجز من لسان الحال مختصر

But the sword's tongue is more truthful in its conciseness

With eloquent speech summarizing the situation

دانوا لأمرك بعد الذل وامتثلوا

وكان عفوك عنهم عفو مقتدر

They surrendered to your command after humiliation and obeyed

And your pardoning them was the pardoning of the capable

كم من يدٍ لهم طولى تطول على

سمر العوالي رماها الله بالقصر

How many hands that are too long for them

God has made short with amputation

ومنذ عادوا فقد عادوا لمهلكة

لِما نُهوا عنه من بغيٍ ومن وطر

Since they returned, they have returned to doom

Because they were forbidden tyranny and transgression

في كل عام لهم حرب ومعترك

وموعد للمنايا غير منتظر

Every year they have war and battlefield

And unforeseen death appointment

وهم متى شئت كانوا منك يومئذ

لدى المنيّة بين الناب والظفر

Whenever you wish, they are for you that day

Between fang and victory when facing death

لا يبلغ الشر منهم مثل مبلغه

في عامهم ذلك الماضي ولم يثر

Evil does not reach from them like it reached

In that past year of theirs which did not diminish

قابلتهم بجنود أمطَرَتْ بدمٍ

كما يصوب مصاب المزن بالمطر

You met them with armies that rained blood

As showers of arrows rain from the bowman

وربَّ أحمقَ معروفٍ لشهرته

وافاك من قومه الأعجام في نفر

How many foolish ones well known for their fame

Came to you from their non-Arabic tribes in droves

لا يعرفون وجوه الموت ترهقهم

ذلاً وتوسعهم طرداً إلى الغرر

They do not know the forms of death that overburdens them

With humiliation and expels them to doom

أخزاهم الله في الأدبار إذ ذبحوا

قبل الخلائف ذبح الشاة والبقر

God disgraced them in retreat as they were slaughtered

Like slaughtering sheep and cows before the successors

وفرّ قائدهم من خوفه هرباً

حتَّى تحجَّب بالحيطان والجدر

And their leader fled in fear, escaping

Until he hid behind walls and houses

ليت المنيّة غالته بمهلكة

وقد أصيبَ لحاهُ الله من دير

If only death had destroyed him in doom

When his shame was hit, may God destroy his monastery

إن الأباعد لم يوثَقْ بخدمتهم

هم العدوُّ فكن منهم على حذر

Verily the non-Arabs cannot be trusted with their service

They are the enemy so beware of them

أبْعِدْ عن العسكر المنصور منزلهم

فشرّهم غير مأمون من الضرر

Remove from the victorious army their dwellings

For their evil is not safe from harm

لا يصلح الجاهل المغرور في نظر

إلاَّ إذا كانَ مصروفاً عن النظر

The ignorant arrogant cannot be reformed by deliberation

Unless he is diverted from deliberating

المفسدون بأرض ينزلون بها

والبارزون بقبح الفعل والصور

The corrupters in a land where they dwell

And those who openly commit evil and disgrace

لله درك لم تسبق بما فعلت

منك العزائم في ماض من العصر

God bless you, your determination did not precede

What it has done in the past eras

بعثت للبصرة الفيحاء تحفظها

بصارم البأس من أحداثها الغير

You sent to the radiant Basra to protect it

With the blade of might from its rumors

طهّرتها من فساد كانَ يكنفها

ولم تدع باغياً فيها ولم تذر

You purified it from the corruption that surrounded it

And did not leave a dissenter in it or abandon it

وصنتها عن شرار الناس قاطبة

صون الجنين لدى الإنفاق بالبدر

And you protected it from the evil of all people

Protecting the infant at birth with the full moon

فعَلْتَ فَعْلاتك اللاّتي فَعَلْتَ بها

تبقى مع الدهر في الأخبار والسير

You did your deeds which you did in it

That will last with time in the news and biographies
