1. أسرَّكَ من بادٍ لعَيْنَيْك حاضرِ

    طُروقُ خيال من أُميمَة زائرِ

    The phantoms of a visitor from Umm Al-Aima

    Brought you from a gentle breeze to my eyes

  2. سرى ليبلّ المستهام غليله

    ويشهدُ ما بين الحشا والضمائر

    It traveled to wet the burning thirst

    And witness what's between dusty and wet sands

  3. وإنْ كانَ لم يغن الخيال ولم يكنْ

    ليشفي جوًى في الحبِّ من وصل هاجر

    Even if imagination didn't sing and wasn't

    Able to heal the passion of love for one who settled

  4. سَلا من سَلا قبلي وما كنتُ سالياً

    وعيشك ما مرَّ السُّلُوُّ بخاطري

    I wasn't asking before, and I wasn't a questioner

    And your life never crossed my mind

  5. وهيهات أن أسلو عن المجد بالهوى

    وأصبو إلى غير العُلى والمفاخر

    And it's impossible that I wish for glory in love

    And aspire to other than highness and pride

  6. وأقتحم الأمر المهول وما العُلى

    بغير العوالي والسُّيوف البواتر

    And dare the awesome matter, for highness is not

    Without boldness, swords and sharp blades

  7. ألا ثكلت أُمُّ الجبان وليدها

    ولا قررت منه بعين وناظر

    Oh, may the mother of a coward lose her son

    And disown him with eyes and sight

  8. إذا كشف عن ساقها الحرب في الوغى

    ودارت على أبطالها بالدوائر

    When war reveals its legs in the fray

    And rotates its heroes in cycles

  9. فنَلْ ما تَمنَّى عند مشتجر القنا

    فَنَيْلُ الأَماني بالقنا المتشاجر

    So obtain what you wish at the clash of spears

    And obtaining wishes is with clasping spears

  10. وخاطرْ بنفسٍ لا أبا لك حرَّةٍ

    فما يبلُغ الآمالَ غيرُ المخاطر

    And risk a soul whom you blame for being free

    For no wishes are obtained but by risking

  11. كما بلغا في المجد أبناءُ راشدٍ

    مكان الدراري والنُّجوم الزَّواهر

    Just like the sons of Rashid reached glory

    Where the shining stars and full moons lie

  12. فمن يطلبُ العلياءَ فليطليَنّها

    برأفةِ منصورٍ وسطوة ناصر

    So whoever seeks highness, let him request it

    With the mercy of Mansour and might of Nasser

  13. هما ما هما في الرجال سواهما

    إذا عُدَّتِ الأَشراف بين العشائر

    They are, among men, nothing but them

    When lineages are counted between clans

  14. رجالُ المنايا إذ يشبُّ ضرامها

    بداهيةٍ دهياء ترمي بثائر

    Men of death, when its flames ignite

    With cunning, deceit throws flames

  15. وهم مُورِدوها والسُّيوف مناهل

    مواردَ حتف ما لها من مصادر

    And they are its drawers, and swords are springs

    The sources of fatality from its creeks

  16. وإنَّ بني السّعدون بالجود والنَّدى

    لأشبَهُ شيءٍ بالبحور الزَّواخر

    The family of Sa'doun, in generosity and dew

    Are most similar to pouring seas

  17. فما وَلَدَتْ أُمُّ المعالي لهم أخاً

    وقد خابَ من يرجو نتاج العواقر

    The mother of virtues never gave birth to a brother for them

    And whoever wishes the progeny of the barren has failed

  18. أرى النَّاس إلاَّ آل سعيدون أُمَّةً

    تُعَدُّ من الأَحياء موتى المقابر

    I see people as nothing but Sa'idoun's nation

    Who count the living as the dead in graves

  19. أباحوا نداهم للعُفاة وحرَّموا

    على جارهم للدهر سطوة جائر

    They allowed their generosity to the destitute and forbade

    For eternity, the injustice of an unjust neighbor

  20. لقد أُشْرِبَتْ حُبّ المعالي صدورهم

    هنيًّا مريًّا غير داءٍ مخامر

    The love of virtues was quenched in their chests

    Gently, purely, without any sickness poisoning

  21. وإنِّي متى عرَّضتُ يوماً بمدحهم

    وأوْرَدْتُ ما أوْرَدْتُهُ من خواطري

    And if I ever exposed praising them one day

    And poured what I poured of my thoughts

  22. إذا قلتُ قولاً كنتُ أصدق قائل

    وإنْ قلتُ شعراً كنتُ أشعر شاعر

    If I said a word, I was a truthful speaker

    And if I said a poem, I was the most eloquent poet

  23. ولو علم السُّلطان إقدامَ ناصر

    لما استنصر السُّلطان إلاَّ بناصر

    If the Sultan knew Nasser's daring

    The Sultan would ask none but Nasser for help

  24. همامٌ أباد المفسدين ودمَّرَتْ

    صوارمه من طلّ باغ وفاجر

    Ambitious, who destroyed the corruptors and his swords

    Demolished those who sought tyranny and betrayal

  25. وقلَّم أظفار الخطوب فلم تَصُلْ

    بأنياب أحداث ولا بأَظافر

    And clipped the claws of disasters, so no

    Fangs of events or claws could reach

  26. فليس ببدعٍ أن تراه لدى الوغى

    بأشجع من ليث بخفَّان خادر

    It is no wonder to see him, amidst the fray

    More courageous than an angry roaring lion

  27. يسافرُ عنه الصيت شرقاً ومغرباً

    مقيمٌ على الإِحسان غير مسافر

    Rumors of him travel east and west

    Settled on righteousness, not traveling

  28. يحدِّثُ راويه عن البأس والندى

    ويأتيك من أخباره بالنوادر

    His storyteller tells of might and generosity

    And comes to you with wondrous tales of him

  29. وما نامَ عن قوم تكفَّل حفظها

    وقد باتَ يرعاها بأعين ساهر

    He never slept while watching over a people he assumed protecting

    Staying up all night to guard them with awake eyes

  30. إذا جَرَّدَتْ يُمناه عضباً يمانياً

    كساه نجيعاً من نجيع الخناجر

    When his right hand stripped itself for Yemeni rage

    It dressed itself in a complete armor of daggers

  31. وإنْ كَتَبَتْ أيديه في الجود حُرِّرَتْ

    بياض العطايا من سواد المحابر

    And if his hands wrote in generosity, they were transcribed

    In the whiteness of gifts over the blackness of ink

  32. نظمتَ أُمور النَّاس علماً وحكمةً

    فمن ناظم فيك الثناء وناثر

    You composed people's affairs with knowledge and wisdom

    So who can compose praise and scatter it about you?

  33. ودبَّرْتَ إكسير الرِّياسة والعُلى

    بما لا يفي يوماً به علم جابر

    And you prepared the elixir of leadership and grandeur

    With what no astrologer can fully know one day

  34. وقُمتَ مقاماً يخطبُ النَّاس منذراً

    ويُعْلِنُ من إرشاده بالبشائر

    And you stood in a place, warning people

    And announcing guidance with good tidings

  35. لئنْ خطبتْ أسيافك البيض خطبةً

    فهامُ الأَعادي عندها كالمنابر

    If your white swords speak in battle

    Then the skulls of enemies are like pulpits to them

  36. ويا رُبَّ قوم طاولتك فقصَّرتْ

    وما كانَ منك الباع عنهم بقاصر

    Oh, many times people rebelled against you, but

    The shortcoming was never from you against them

  37. وجاءَتك بالمكر الَّذي شَقِيَتْ به

    فما رَجَعَتْ إلاَّ بصفقة خاسر

    And they came at you with plots they were wretched with

    But only returned with losing bargains

  38. وأرغمت آناف الطغاة فأصْبَحَتْ

    تصعِّر ممَّا أبْصَرَتْ خدّ صاغر

    You made the noses of tyrants grimace

    To frown from what they saw with humbled cheeks

  39. ثَبَتَّ ثباتَ الرَّاسيات لحربهم

    وحَلَّقتَ يومَ المفاخر تحليق طائر

    You stood firmly with them in battle

    And on the day of pride you soared like an eagle

  40. أذقْتَهُم البأسَ عقوبةً

    ويا طالما أنذرتهم بالزواجر

    You made them taste might as punishment

    And how much you warned them with deterrence

  41. وما خُلِقَ الإِحسان إلاَّ لصالحٍ

    ولا خُلق الصَّمصام إلاَّ لفاجر

    Goodness was created only for the righteous

    And a sharp sword was created only for the wicked

  42. عليك بِوُدّ الأَقربين وإنْ أتَتْ

    بغير الَّذي تهوي فليس بضائر

    Busy yourself with the love of your kin even if

    It brings what your soul does not desire, it's no harm

  43. وأحسِنْ إليهم ما استطعت فإنَّما

    تشاهدُ بالإِحسان صفو الضمائر

    Be good to them as much as you can, for you

    Witness the purest consciences with goodness

  44. لعمرك إنْ ألَّفْتَ بين قلوبهم

    ظفِرت من الدُّنيا بأسنى الذخائر

    By your life, if you reconcile between their hearts

    You gain the finest treasures of the world

  45. فما أَفْلَحَتْ بين الأنام قبيلةٌ

    إذا ابتليت يوماً بداء الضرائر

    For no tribe has succeeded among people

    When one day afflicted with the plight of misfortunes

  46. وإنَّك تعفو عن كثيرٍ وهكذا

    وعيشك قد كانت صفات الأَكابر

    You pardon many, and so your life was

    The qualities of the greatest

  47. فما أنتَ إلاَّ كابرٌ وابن كابرٍ

    وما أنتَ إلاَّ طاهرٌ وابن طاهر

    You are nothing but great and son of the great

    You are nothing but pure and son of the pure

  48. يميناً بربِّ البيت والركن والصَّفا

    ومن حَلَّ في أكتاف تلك المشاعر

    By the Lord of the House, the Corner, and the Rocks

    And whoever settled in the shoulders of those holy sites

  49. لأنتم بنو السعدون في كلِّ موطنٍ

    أكارم مذ كنتم كرام العناصر

    You are family of Sa'doun in every place

    The most generous since you were the purest of elements

  50. عليكم ثنائي حيثُ كنت وطالما

    ملأت بأشعاري بطون الدفاتر

    My praise is upon you wherever I am

    And I've filled notebooks with my poems about you

  51. أزيد لكم شكراً وأزداد نعمة

    وما ازدادت النعماء إلاَّ لشاكر

    I thank you more and more for the blessings

    And blessings have not increased but for the grateful

  52. أقلِّدكم منِّي الثناء وإنَّه

    قليلٌ ولو قلَّدتُكُمْ بالجواهر

    I grant you from me this praise, and though it's

    Little even if I granted you jewels
