1. توسّد بمهد الأمن قد مرّت النوى

    وزال لغوبُ السير من مشهد الثوى

    Rest upon the cradle of safety, for the time of separation has passed,

    And the exhaustion of the journey has vanished from the place of rest.

  2. وعرّ جياداً حاد بالنفس كرّها

    وقد أشرفت ممّا عراها على التوى

    Unbridle the steeds whose repeated charges taxed their spirits,

    For they were on the brink of perishing from what afflicted them.

  3. ألا كم جرت طلقا بنا تحت غيهبٍ

    وخاضت بحار الآلِ من شدّة الجوى

    Oh, how often they galloped freely with us beneath the darkness,

    Wading through seas of mirages from the intensity of burning thirst.

  4. وكم من مفازاتٍ يضلُّ بها القطا

    قطعت بها والذئب من هولها عوى

    How many barren deserts where even the sandgrouse loses its way,

    Have I traversed, while the wolf howled from their terror.

  5. وقد أصبحت مثل القسيّ ضوامراً

    وتلك سهام للعدى وقعُها شوى

    The mounts have become lean like curved bows,

    Yet they are arrows against the enemy, searing in their impact.

  6. إلى أن بدت نيران أعلامنا لها

    وفي ضوء نيران الكرام لها صوى

    Until the fires of our banners appeared to them,

    And in the light of the fires of the noble, there are guideposts.

  7. ولا سيما أهل السيادة مثلنا

    بنو الشرف المحض المصون عن الهوى

    Especially for people of sovereignty like us,

    Sons of pure honor, guarded against caprice.

  8. فقالت أيا ابن الراشدي لك الهنا

    كفى فاترك التسيار وأحمد وجى النوى

    So she said, "O son of Al-Rashidi, congratulations to you;

    It is enough; leave traveling and praise the end of the journey's pain."

  9. ألا يابن خلّادٍ تطاولتَ للعلى

    وبايَنت مأواك الكريمَ وما حوى

    "O son of Khallad, you have reached for the heights,

    And departed from your noble sanctuary and all it contained."

  10. فمن أجل ذل قد شدّ في ربعنا لها

    عقالٌ ونادينا لك العزّ قد ثوى

    Therefore, within our quarters, a tether was secured for them,

    A hobble, and we proclaimed to you, "Glory has settled here."

  11. وحلّ بكهفٍ لا يرام جنابه

    فمن حلّ فيه مثل من حل في طوى

    He has settled in a cave whose sanctuary is impregnable;

    Whoever dwells within it is like one who dwelt in the holy valley of Tuwa.

  12. فإنّا أكاليل الهداية والعلى

    ومن نشر علياها ذوي المجد قد طوى

    For we are the crowns of guidance and eminence,

    Whose lofty spread has eclipsed other men of glory.

  13. فنحن لنا دين ودنيا تجمّعا

    ولا فخر إلا ما لنا يرفع اللوا

    For us, both religion and worldly power have combined,

    And there is no pride except that which raises our banner.

  14. مناقب مختاريّة قادريّة

    تسامت وعباسيّة مجدها احتوى

    Virtues of the Mukhtar, of the Qadiri order,

    Have risen high, and of Abbasid lineage whose glory encompasses all.

  15. فإن شئت علماً تلقني خير عالمٍ

    وفي الروع أخباري غدت توهن القوى

    If you desire knowledge, you will find me the finest scholar,

    While in war, tales of me serve to weaken the enemy's strength.

  16. لنا سفنٌ بحر الحديث بها جرى

    وخاضت فطاب الورد ممن بها ارتوى

    We possess ships within which the sea of Hadith flows;

    They sailed deep, and sweet was the water for those who drank their fill.

  17. وإن رمت فقه الأصبحيّ فعج على

    مجالسنا تشهد لواء العنا دوا

    If you seek the jurisprudence of Al-Asbahi, then turn to

    Our councils, to witness the cure for the banner of hardship.

  18. وإن شئت نحواً فانحنا تلق ما له

    غدا يذعن البصريّ زهداً روى

    And if you desire grammar, turn toward us to find that to which

    The Basran master would submit, narrating humbly.

  19. ونحن سقينا البيضَ في كل معركٍ

    دماء العدا والسمر أسعرت الجوى

    We have watered the white blades in every battle

    With the blood of enemies, while brown spears kindled the fire.

  20. ألم ترَ في خنق النطاح نطاحنا

    غداة التقينا كم شجاعٍ لهم لوى

    Did you not see our thrusting in the thick of the clash,

    On the morning we met? How many of their brave men turned away!

  21. وكم هامةٍ ذاك النهار قددتها

    بحدّ حسامي والقنا طعنه شوى

    How many skulls I split asunder that day,

    With the edge of my blade, while the spear's thrust seared.

  22. وأشقر تحتي كلمته رماحهم

    ثمان ولم يشك الجوى بل وما التوى

    Beneath me, a sorrel steed was wounded by their lances

    Eight times, yet he complained not of pain, nor did he falter.

  23. بيوم قضى نحبا أخي فارتقى إلى

    جنان له فيها نبيّ الرضا أوى

    On a day my brother met his fate and ascended to

    Gardens wherein the Prophet of Contentment gave him shelter.

  24. فما ارتد من وقع السهام عنانه

    إلى أن أتاه الفوز راغم من غوى

    His reins did not pull back from the falling arrows,

    Until triumph came to him, despite the misguided foe.

  25. ومن بينهم حمّلته حين قد قضى

    وكم رميةٍ كالنجم من أفقه هوى

    From their midst I carried him when he had passed,

    While many a shot fell like a star from its horizon.

  26. ويوم قضى تحتي جوادٌ برميةٍ

    وبي أحدقوا لولا أولو البأس والقوى

    And the day a steed died beneath me from a shot,

    And they surrounded me—were it not for men of might and power.

  27. وأسيافنا قد جرّدت من جفونها

    وردت إليها بعد ورد وقد روى

    Our swords were drawn bare from their scabbards,

    And returned only after drinking their fill.

  28. ولما بدا قرني بيمناه حربة

    وكفّي بها نارٌ بها الكبش قد شوى

    When my challenger appeared, a lance in his right hand,

    While my hand held a fire that seared the chieftain.

  29. فأيقن أني قابض الروح فانكفا

    بولي فوافاه حسامي مذ هوى

    He realized I was the seizer of souls and turned away,

    In retreat, but my sword met him as he fell.

  30. شددتُ عليه شدّةً هاشمية

    وقد وردوا ورد المنايا على الغوى

    I charged upon him with a Hashemite assault;

    They had come to the watering place of death in their error.

  31. نزلت ببرج العين نزلة ضيغم

    فزادوا بها حزناً وعمّهم الجوى

    I descended at Burj al-Ain like a lion,

    So they increased in sorrow there, and grief overwhelmed them.

  32. وما زلت أرميهم بكل مهنّد

    وكلّ جوادٍ همّه الكرّ لا الشوى

    I ceased not to strike them with every Indian blade,

    And every steed intent on the charge, not on trifles.

  33. وذا دأبنا فيه حياة لديننا

    وروح جهادٍ بعد ما غصنه فوى

    This is our custom, in which lies the life of our faith,

    And the spirit of Jihad, after its branch had withered.

  34. جزى اللَه عنا كلّ شهمٍ غدت به

    غريس لها فضلٌ أتانا وما انزوى

    May God reward on our behalf every gallant man through whom

    Virtue was planted, coming to us without retreat.

  35. فكم أضرموا نار الوغى بالظبا معي

    وصالوا وجالوا والقلوب لها اشتوا

    How often they kindled the fire of battle with swords alongside me,

    Charging and wheeling while hearts burned within.

  36. وإنّا بنو الحرب العوان لنا بها

    سرورٌ إذا قامت وشانئنا عوى

    We are the sons of fierce war; in it we find

    Joy when it arises and our hater howls.

  37. لذاك عروس الملك كانت خطيبتي

    كفجأة موسى بالنبوّة في طوى

    For that reason, the bride of sovereignty was my betrothed,

    Like Moses' surprise with prophethood in the valley of Tuwa.

  38. وقد علمتني خيرَ كف لوصلها

    وكم رُدَّ عنها خاطبٌ بالهوى هوى

    She knew mine to be the best hand for her union,

    While many a suitor was turned away, falling by his own caprice.

  39. فواصلتها بكراً لديّ تبرّجت

    ولي أذعنت والمعتدي بالنوى ثوى

    I wed her as a virgin who adorned herself for me,

    She submitted to me, while the aggressor perished in exile.

  40. وقد سرت فيهم سيرة عمريّة

    وأسقيت ظاميها الهداية فارتوى

    I have walked among them with the justice of Omar,

    And watered the thirsty with guidance until they were satisfied.

  41. وإني لأرجو أن أكون أنا الذي

    ينير الدياجي بالسنا بعد ما لوى

    And I hope to be the one who

    Illuminates the darkness with light after it has closed in.

  42. بجاهِ ختامٍ المرسلين محمّدٍ

    أجلّ نبيّ كلّ مكرمةٍ حوى

    By the rank of the Seal of Messengers, Muhammad,

    The greatest Prophet, who encompassed every virtue.

  43. عليه صلاة اللَه ثم سلامه

    وآلٍ وصحبٍ ما سرى الركب للّوى

    Upon him be the blessings of God and His peace,

    And upon his family and companions, as long as caravans travel the dunes.

  44. وما قال بعد السير والجدّ منشدٌ

    توسّد بمهد الأمن قد مرّت النوى

    And as long as a singer chants after the journey and the toil:

    "Rest upon the cradle of safety, for the time of separation has passed."
