واللّه بتّ وقلبي في لظى الحزن

By God, you and my heart are in the flames of sorrow

By God, I passed the night with a heart in the blaze of sorrow,

مما عراكم عسى فيه أقاسمكم

أو حمله كله لو كان يمكنني

Whatever has befallen you, I hope I can share it

Because of what befell you, hoping I might share your burden,

Or bear it all, if only it were possible

Or bear the whole of it, if only it were within my power,

حتى يتمّ لنا من وصلكم غرض

قد طالما كنت راجيه من الزمن

So that our goal of reuniting may be fulfilled

So that a desire for your union might be fulfilled for us,

I have long hoped for it from time

Which I have long been hoping for from the hands of time.
