A swift, sturdy she-camel, like a wild she-ass at the shallow water,
Like a desert donkey that bleats loudly
A hardy she-camel, like a wild ass of the shallows, swift,
when the heat-mirages dance across the sand dune.
When, laden, it dances over the rocks and stones
When the shimmering mirages dance upon the sandy dunes.
Between her and the noble white camels, if they pursue her,
Seeking its freedom from Jesus' bonds
Between her and the noble white camels, should they pursue,
lies a far-reaching desert tract, its water’s whereabouts unknown.
Far, far away where the water springs are unknown
Lies a desolate plain, distant, its water sources unknown.
