If you know nothing of my exploits, they surely have known them—
If you don't know my repeated onslaughts
If you are ignorant of my pursuits, Banu al-Huwayrith surely know my striving and my repeated charges.
the sons of al-Ḥuwayrith—my endeavors and my repeated charges.
The people of Hawairith knew my repeated attacks
And the tribe on the day of Ushayy, when a day of destiny struck them—for indeed, time is bitter.
And the clan, on the day of Ushayy, when there overtook them
And the living one, the day I afflicted them with grief
Were it not for Yajudah and those with her, the outposts would have ended up with no fire burning therein.
a day dealt by Time—for Time is bitter indeed.
A day of time, truly time is bitter
Were it not for Yajūdah and the clan who dwell there,
If it were not for the generosity of Yajawdah and the living one who were in it
by evening no fire would be burning at al-Mazālif.
The kindling wood of the campfire would not be ignited by it
