إِلى الهزيان قَد قَعَدوا وَقاموا
The heart of some folk found solace in wine;
The heart of a people found solace in wine
They sat and rose, lapsing into delirium.
As they sat and rose in frivolity

So I said, as cares beset the heart:
So I said, while cares afflicted my heart:
“A heart that wine does not console.”
"Heart, wine will not comfort you!"
