أَقِلpardon عَثرةthe misstep of العالينthe exalted تَرقyou will ascend ذرىthe summits of العُلىeminence
أَقِل عَثرة العالين تَرق ذرى العُلى
وَشَرُّand the worst مَقيلٍpardoner قائِلٌa speaker غَيرُnot فاعلِa doer
وَشَرُّ مَقيلٍ قائِلٌ غَيرُ فاعلِ
Pardon the misstep of the exalted, and you will ascend the summits of eminence.
Lessen the stumble of the exalted, and ascend the highest peak
And the worst pardoner is one who speaks but does not act.
The worst refuge is one who speaks but does not act
وَلاand do not تَمنَحgrant الأَسفالthe base برّاًkindness فَإِنَّماfor only
وَلا تَمنَح الأَسفال برّاً فَإِنَّما
زَوالُthe loss of المَعاليlofty standing بِاِصطِناعthrough patronage of الأَسافلِthe base
زَوالُ المَعالي بِاِصطِناع الأَسافلِ
And grant no kindness to the base, for only
Do not bestow kindness on the lowly, for
Through patronage of the base is lofty standing lost.
The decline of the glorious is through courting the lowly
