لَناfor us لَيلةa night بِالسَعدwith good fortune آياتهاits signs بَدَتappeared
لَنا لَيلة بِالسَعد آياتها بَدَت
سُروراًjoy فَخلناso we thought أنَّهاthat it was لَيلةnight القَدرِthe Decree
سُروراً فَخلنا أنَّها لَيلة القَدرِ
Ours was a night whose signs appeared with good fortune,
A night has come to us, and its signs appear to be auspicious
bringing joy, so we thought it was the Night of Decree.
So we felt that it was Lailat al-Qadr
حَكَتresembled فَلكاًa celestial sphere بِالزُهرwith the bright stars يَزهوshines resplendently وَبَدرهاand its full moon
حَكَت فَلكاً بِالزُهر يَزهو وَبَدرها
بِأُفقat the horizon العُلىglory شَيخsheikh الشُيوخthe sheikhs أَبوAbu (father of) النَصرِal-Nasr (victory)
بِأُفق العُلى شَيخ الشُيوخ أَبو النَصرِ
It resembled a firmament radiant with stars, and its full moon
The sky was adorned with radiant stars
at the horizon of glory was the sheikh of sheikhs, Abu al-Nasr.
And its full moon rose in the high horizon, the sheikh of sheikhs, Abu al-Nasr
