ما لِذَنبٍ لَهُ جزا

My slayer appeared from among humankind;

My assassin killed me though I was guiltless,

there is no punishment for any sin of his.

Without cause my due he made death my sentence.

لامه بَعد ما غَزا

لامه بَعد ما غَزا

How often he raided the heart, donning

Oft he raided my heart clad in mailcoat,

his letter lām after he had raided.

After raiding, with blame he chastised me.
