أَرادَwilled الشَرّevil مِثلlike الخَيرgood رَبّيmy Lord
أَرادَ الشَرّ مِثل الخَير رَبّي
فَذَلِكَso that لِلشَقيِّfor the wretched one وَذاand this لِحزبِهfor His followers
فَذَلِكَ لِلشَقيِّ وَذا لِحزبِه
My Lord willed evil just as He willed good;
My Lord wished evil as well as good,
So that is for the wretched, and this for His followers.
So that is for the wretched and for his party.

And far be it that the will of a servant—
Far be it that the wish of a weak servant
A weak one—should prevail over his Lord’s will.
Should overcome the wish of his Lord.

Exalted is the True One; indeed, the truth is manifest
Exalted is the Truth! The Truth endures
When the wise man looks with the eye of his intellect.
When the forebearing beholds with the eye of his heart.
