إِلهي بِتَقديس النُفوس الذَكيّة

إِلهي بِتَقديس النُفوس الذَكيّة

وَتَشريفها بِالحَضرة الأقدسيّةِ

وَتَشريفها بِالحَضرة الأقدسيّةِ

My God, by sanctifying intelligent souls,

O my God, by sanctifying keen souls

and honoring them with the most holy Presence,

And honoring them with the most sacred presence,

وَتَمحيصها بَعدَ الفَناءِ إِلى البقا

وَتَمحيصها بَعدَ الفَناءِ إِلى البقا

وَتَجريدها مِن عالم البَشَريّةِ

وَتَجريدها مِن عالم البَشَريّةِ

and purifying them, after annihilation, unto subsistence,

And purifying them after annihilation into eternity,

and detaching them from the realm of human nature,

And freeing them from the world of humanity,

أَزل عَن فُؤادي ما أُقاسي مِن العَنا

أَزل عَن فُؤادي ما أُقاسي مِن العَنا

وَجُد لي بِجود الراحَة الأَكرَميّةِ

وَجُد لي بِجود الراحَة الأَكرَميّةِ

remove from my heart the suffering I endure,

Remove from my heart what troubles I endure

and bestow on me the bounty of the noblest repose.

And grant me the comfort of Your most generous grace,

وَلا تَمتَحنّي يا إِلهي بِشدَّةٍ

وَلا تَمتَحنّي يا إِلهي بِشدَّةٍ

فَإِنّي قَليلُ الصَبر عِندَ البَليّةِ

فَإِنّي قَليلُ الصَبر عِندَ البَليّةِ

And do not try me, O my God, with hardship,

And do not test me, O my God, with hardship,

for I have little patience in affliction.

For I have little patience in adversity.
