خَليليَmy friend لاdo not تذكرmention أَخاكyour brother بِريبةwith suspicion
فَإِنّfor indeed كَمالperfection الذاتthe essence بِاللَهto God مُختصُّexclusive
My friend, do not speak of your brother with suspicion.
My friend do not suspect your brother
For perfection of being belongs to God alone.
For perfection of being belongs to God alone
فَياand, oh ربّmany a عَيبfault فيin اِمرئٍa man غَيرnot ظاهرapparent
سِوىexcept أَنَّهُthat it قَدindeed راحَbegan يَذكرهto mention it شَخصُsomeone
And, oh, many a fault in a man lies hidden,
So my Lord, no flaw in a person is apparent
save that someone has begun to speak of it.
Except that he went on to mention it in another
فَلَمّاand when اِنتَهىfinished مِنfrom ذكرmentioning نَقصa flaw بِغَيرهin someone other than himself
بَداappeared لَكto you فيهِin him ظاهِراًplainly ذَلكthat النَقصُthe flaw
And when he has finished speaking of a flaw in another,
So when he finished mentioning the flaws of others
that very flaw appears plainly to you in him.
It became apparent in him that very flaw
