طيّبmay make fragrant اللَهGod ثَرىthe soil of قَبرٍa grave حَوىheld
طيّب اللَه ثَرى قَبرٍ حَوى
سَيّداًa nobleman مِنfrom آلthe family of خَيرthe best of المُرسَلينthe messengers
سَيّداً مِن آل خَير المُرسَلين
May God make fragrant the soil of a grave that held
May Allah bless the grave that harbored
A nobleman from the family of the best of messengers.
A master from the family of the best of messengers
كانَhe was للرحمنto the All-Merciful عَبداًa servant طائِعاًobedient
كانَ للرحمن عَبداً طائِعاً
خاشِعاًhumble حَتّىuntil أَتىhe came to الحَقّthe Truth المُبينmanifest
خاشِعاً حَتّى أَتى الحَقّ المُبين
He was an obedient servant to the All-Merciful,
He was an obedient servant of the Most Merciful
Humble, until he came to the manifest Truth.
Humbly until the clear truth came
مِنof بَنيthe sons of البزريِّal-Bizri نالhe attained الخُلدimmortality فيin
مِن بَني البزريِّ نال الخُلد في
جَنَّةٍa garden ذاتpossessing قَرارٍabiding rest وَمَعينand flowing water
جَنَّةٍ ذات قَرارٍ وَمَعين
Of the sons of al-Bizri, he attained immortality in
From the Bani al-Bazri he attained eternity in
A garden of abiding rest and flowing water.
A paradise of tranquility and springs
فازَhe triumphed فيهاin it مَعَwith مَنthose who قيلَit was said لَهُمto them
فازَ فيها مَعَ مَن قيلَ لَهُم
اِدخلوهاenter it بِسَلامٍin peace آمِنينsecure
اِدخلوها بِسَلامٍ آمِنين
There he triumphed with those who were told:
He won it with those who were told
“Enter it in peace, secure.”
Enter it in peace, safely
وَبِفَضلand by the grace of اللَهGod قُلناwe said أَرّخواrecord the date
وَبِفَضل اللَه قُلنا أَرّخوا
فَلينعَّمso may he be granted bliss نعمexcellent is دارthe abode of المتَّقينthe God-fearing
فَلينعَّم نعم دار المتَّقين
And by God's grace we said: record the date—
And by Allah's grace we said, date it
So may he be granted bliss—excellent is the abode of the God-fearing!
So he may enjoy the bliss of the home of the righteous
