How lovely is the splendor of the garden of literature, which
O beauty of literature's garden that is
is a delight to eyes and minds!
An amusement for sights and minds

The company of poets who came before, it has
The forefathers of literature excelled in poetry
strung together like precious jewels of pure gold.
Composing like the prime compositions

No doubt poetry is the emblem of intellect,
Without doubt, poetry is the mark of eminence
and reason is the best of the Bountiful Giver’s gifts.
And intellect the best of God's gifts

And indeed, Iskandar has related wise sayings that
Alexander learned wisdoms not known
the sages never related from Luqman.
Even to the sage Luqman
وَأَبانand he revealed لِلأَعيانto the notables كُلّevery فَضيلةvirtue

And he has revealed to the notables every virtue
And showed the nobles each virtue
that, among noble qualities, is a delight to the eyes.
That gladdens the hearts of nobles
حَتّىso that لَقَدindeed بُعثواthey were resurrected وَماthough not بعثواthey were resurrected وَقَدand indeed
نالواthey attained البَقاءimmortality وَكُلّwhile every شَيءthing فانيis perishing
So that they have indeed been resurrected, though not resurrected, and have
To the extent that though they passed away
attained immortality, while everything perishes.
And all things pass, they won eternity
فَلَهُمso theirs is نَعيمbliss الخالدينthe immortals بِرَوضَةٍin a garden
مِنof كُلِّevery فاكِهَةٍfruit بِهاin it زَوجانِtwo kinds
So theirs is the bliss of the immortals in a garden,
So theirs is the bliss of the eternal in a garden
where there are two kinds of every fruit.
With every luscious fruit paired
