ياO غَنيّاًrich one بِالحُسنin beauty إنّيindeed I فَقيرٌpoor; in need
يا غَنيّاً بِالحُسن إنّي فَقيرٌ
لِلمىfor the lips’ dusky tint كنزtreasure of ثَغركyour mouth الجَوهريِّjewel-like
لِلمى كنز ثَغرك الجَوهريِّ
O you rich in beauty, I am in need
Of the dusky tint of the treasure of your jewel-like mouth.
إِنif تَكنyou are لِلغنىto wealth عَبداًa slave فَإِنّيthen indeed I
إِن تَكن لِلغنى عَبداً فَإِنّي
أَناI فيin الحُبّlove عَبدa slave of عَبدAbd (servant of) الغَنيِّal-Ghani (the Rich One)
أَنا في الحُبّ عَبد عَبد الغَنيِّ
If you are a slave to wealth, then as for me,
In love I am a slave of Abd al-Ghani.
