عَلَيكَit is incumbent upon you بِالسَعيwith striving فيin نَيلattaining المُرادthe desired aim وَلُذand seek refuge
عَلَيكَ بِالسَعي في نَيل المُراد وَلُذ
بِساحَةٍin a courtyard هِيit لِلآمالfor hopes غاياتُgoals
بِساحَةٍ هِي لِلآمال غاياتُ
Strive to attain your heart’s desire, and seek refuge
Strive to attain your desire, and seek refuge
in a court that is every hope’s ultimate destination.
in a courtyard where hopes find fulfillment.
وَاِقصُدand seek مَكارِمbounties عَبدservant اللَهGod واِروِand quench بِهاwith them
وَاِقصُد مَكارِم عَبد اللَه واِروِ بِها
مِنكَfrom you الظَماthirst فَلغيثfor the rain has الجودgenerosity جوداتُabundant showers
مِنكَ الظَما فَلغيث الجود جوداتُ
Seek ʿAbd Allāh’s noble gifts, and with them quench
And seek Abd Allah’s bounties, and with them quench
the thirst within you—for generosity’s raincloud pours bounty upon bounty.
your thirst, for generosity’s rain has abundant showers.
