ياO جَنّةparadise حارَwas bewildered لبّيmy mind فيin مَحاسنهاits beauties
يا جَنّة حارَ لبّي في مَحاسنها
كَماjust as بِهاwithin it حارَتwere bewildered الولدانthe youths وَالحورُand the houris
كَما بِها حارَت الولدان وَالحورُ
O paradise, whose beauties have bewildered my mind,
Just as the youths and houris are bewildered within it.
خَيراًgood تَأَبّطتِyou tucked beneath your arm لاnot شَرّاًevil صحبتyou befriended فَكَمfor how many
خَيراً تَأَبّطتِ لا شَرّاً صحبت فَكَم
مِنamong الكَواسرthe birds of prey قَلبa heart فيكin you مَجبورُmended
مِن الكَواسر قَلب فيك مَجبورُ
You have tucked good beneath your arm, not befriended evil; for how many
a heart among the birds of prey is mended in you!
قَدindeed فازَwon كَلبكyour dog فيin هَذاthis النَعيمbliss كَماjust as
قَد فازَ كَلبك في هَذا النَعيم كَما
حازَattained النَعيمbliss بِدارin the abode of الخلدeternity قطميرُQitmir
حازَ النَعيم بِدار الخلد قطميرُ
Your dog has indeed won this bliss, just as
Qitmir attained bliss in the abode of eternity.
