شمل هَذا النِظام ظلّ ظَليلُ

وَعَطاء مِن الإله جَزيلُ

A sheltering shade has enfolded this verse,

and abundant bounty from God,

وَسُرور عَلى مَمَرّ اللَيالي

وَسُرور عَلى مَمَرّ اللَيالي

عاهَدَ القَلب أَنَّهُ لا يَزولُ

عاهَدَ القَلب أَنَّهُ لا يَزولُ

and joy that, through the passing nights,

has pledged to the heart that it will not fade.

Glory's rising star at the birth of a son

is a star of good fortune toward whom hearts incline.

يَتَهادى بِهِ الهَناء سُروراً

يَتَهادى بِهِ الهَناء سُروراً

وَلَهُ في الأَحباب شرح يَطولُ

وَلَهُ في الأَحباب شرح يَطولُ

Bliss sways with him in joy,

and among loved ones, the account of him grows long.

يا أَباهُ أَرّخ بِأَزهَر حُسن

يا أَباهُ أَرّخ بِأَزهَر حُسن

جاءَ بِالسَعد يا هَناك خَليلُ

جاءَ بِالسَعد يا هَناك خَليلُ

O his father, record the date with radiant beauty:

Khalil has come with good fortune—joy be yours!
