O wearer of a found robe of reproach,
Oh you who wears the garment of blame as a patch,
Leave it to someone else if you find it ugly.
Leave it for another if you find it ugly,

فَالمَرءُ أَقبَح ما يَكون شَحيحا
And disdain the soul's stinginess if you are wealthy,
And disdain the meanness of soul if you are wealthy,
For a man is at his ugliest when miserly.
For the meanest thing a man can be is miserly,

By your companion's view for he saw it comely.
